Bad Blogger!

I'm back! I've been such a bad blogger. Don't know if I have writers block, I'm lazy or I just don't have anything exciting to say. If you subscribed to my blog, at least you don't have to keep checking back every now and then....you should get an email telling you I've posted something extraordinary. Ha Ha Ha!

Blogger has changed their format which has left me a bit confused but I'll blabber on anyway.
The dogs had another encounter with one of our snakes. It was in the dog pen. Tilly saw it first and started barking. Jaz popped thru the doggie door to see what was going on and stepped on it. She didn't even realize she had stepped on the snake but barked just the same. Harley barreled out the doggie door and just missed stepping on it's head but didn't even see it. All three dogs finally saw Mr. snake and barked and barked. Pa kept saying "No, No" which made me laugh. It was like he was talking to a baby. Well, they are his babies..... I told him they understood "Get back" which they did when I yelled at them. The snake did strike at Jaz cause she got too close. I've never seen her move so fast! She jumped backwards like a cat.
Wayne wanted to explore Sierra Highlands, the next ranch over. Lucy had so much fun running around. She blends right in with the rocks.
This is at the top looking down. The countryside is so diverse around here. You have sand, lava rocks, juniper trees, bunch grass and plain dirt.
Here's another view from the top. Look at all the rocks!!! Makes my mouth water.
Sierra Highlands is beautiful but I would not want to drive 15 miles or so of bad road and then drive up a hill to get there. I don't know how people will get up the hill in the snow. The road from Hwy 191 to the hill is graveled most of the way but when it rains, or snows, watch out. I talked to a woman who used to live there and she said one night, they couldn't make it up the hill so had to sleep in their truck overnight...in the winter....with no heat!!! The moved back East the following summer. We also found out the people there can't use the community well because it was shut down by the state.
Sierra Highland property owners need to talk to an attorney about the community well because that was one of the selling points, it was advertised as having one and now they can't use it. Their dues go toward upkeep of the roads AND the community well. They need to pay less dues or get another well.
I dug up the garden. There are a couple of plants left. Out of 11 hills of potatoes, this is all I got. Out of 1 hill of sweet potatoes, I got 4 of them!!! Not sure it is worth it. I have two boxes of green tomatoes. Hopefully I will have the same luck as Tom did last year. He had ripe tomatoes thru out the winter as they ripened in their storage box.
We were invited to a get together at Sierra Highlands by our friends Pam and Bob. They own property there and are getting ready to make the big move. I am really looking forward to them being our neighbors. Pam is a crafter.....Yipee! We met two other couples while we were there.
Ron and Julie own property at the bottom of the mesa. This is the view from their back yard.
You can barely see their property from the road because they are surrounded by huge boulders. It's really nice.
I'd prefer more trees but it is quiet and pretty. They have a hill in front of their property made up of boulders and sand. They go up every night with a glass of wine and watch the sunset.
Here I am on Sunset hill looking down on their place. Unfortunately they only come out once a month and don't live there full time.
Doesn't this remind you of Stonehenge? So cool!

Three more days and we will go to Phoenix to pickup my mom and her hubs! Since they get in late, we will spend the night and then drive back to Saint Johns. At least we will have time to shop!!! In a big city!!!! Can you believe that I told Pa I would rather hit the thrift stores instead of Hobby Lobby? Pa is looking forward to Harbor Freight and the 99 cent only store. I want to shop at Saver's and the Goodwill. But I will take coupons in case a craft store is nearby. I've not been doing much crafting but check out my friend, Katie's blog and see what I worked on when I was at her house last Sunday.

Isn't that pretty? I'd like to make a couple more and put them on the Christmas tree. That is if we put one up. We didn't last year so didn't have much Christmas spirit. It looks kinda bleak with no presents under the tree.Maybe I'll just wrap up some empty boxes and pretend.

We got some rain last night. Woke up at 5 am to a thundering clatter on the roof. Pa thought it was hailing but it was just rain...for less than a minute. Lots of thunder and lightening. It is clear and sunny now with wind and that's all the rain in the forecast for awhile. Maybe next we will get some snow!!! I brought a lot of my potted plants in for the winter. I ran out of room so put some in the master bath tub since we don't use it.

Ok, that catches us up for now!
